Design Overview

When Lewis from Hughes Family Estate Agents approached me, he had a clear goal: to create a bold, modern brand that could stand shoulder to shoulder with Sheffield’s leading estate agencies. He wanted to offer something different — a high-quality, personal experience with a contemporary feel.

We started by diving into his vision and how he saw the agency fitting into the local Sheffield property market. I then researched UK property branding trends, focusing on premium estate agent brands that still appeal to a wider audience — striking the right balance between polished and approachable.

The result was a visual identity that’s modern, professional, and distinctly personable. A deep navy blue conveys trust and sophistication, while the vibrant orange injects energy and friendliness — a perfect reflection of Hughes Family Estate Agents’ commitment to quality with a personal touch.

Designing the Logo & Visual Identity

The new Hughes Family Estate Agents logo strikes a balance between modern sophistication and friendly approachability. The deep blue evokes trust and professionalism, while the vibrant orange house icon brings warmth, energy, and standout personality.

Bold, clean typography anchors the identity — premium yet welcoming. To make the logo more distinctive and memorable, I incorporated side angles from the house icon into the letterforms of “Hughes.” This subtle detail carries the design language across the brand, even in contexts where the house icon isn’t used.

A unique feature of the logo is its ability to tessellate, creating a repeating house pattern inspired by Sheffield’s architecture — a nod to the agency’s local roots.

The colour palette combines classic tones with contemporary energy, giving the brand a confident, recognisable presence. It’s intentionally simplified to help the client maintain consistency across marketing materials.

To ensure visibility across Sheffield, I designed bold, eye-catching signboards featuring an oversized logo. They’re impossible to miss — which comes in handy when clients are trying to find the property they’re viewing.

The Client was presented with a full brand identity book that covered all that the brand would need going forward, including the logo family, fonts, palette, execution examples and social media templates and guidelines.
